Yash Film Toxic Surges Past Rs 45 Crore in Advance Booking

Actor Yash and the production team of his upcoming action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups appealed to fans on August 25, 2026, to avoid recording scenes in theaters and posting spoilers on social media ahead of the film's worldwide release on August 26.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the project marks Yash's return to the big screen four years after KGF Chapter 2. Advance sales for the film have crossed Rs 45 crore worldwide, with over 10 lakh tickets sold across nearly 20,000 shows, according to trade tracking reports.

The Central Board of Film Certification granted Toxic an 'A' certificate with a runtime of 3 hours and 12 minutes, requiring no visual cuts. Set in post-independence Goa, the film features an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria.

The film's team released an official message on Instagram emphasizing the collective effort behind the production.

"Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is not just a film for us, it's years of heart poured into a world we built frame by frame, scene by scene, choice by choice," the team stated in the note.

The production crew thanked supporters for the initial ticket demand across multiple language markets.

"An experience made for the big screen as a community," the note added.

The statement expressed gratitude for the audience's enthusiasm leading up to the release date.

"The love you've already shown this film, the excitement, the thunderous advance we've seen coming in, means more to us than words can carry. Thank you for your support throughout our journey," it said.

The note concluded with a direct appeal regarding theatrical courtesy and social media sharing.

"There's one thing we sincerely request from you, let the experience unfold the way it was meant to. Don't record scenes from the movie in theatres and post them on social media, don't give away story beats and spoilers and ruin it for others. Let the next person walk into the world of Toxic exactly the way you did," the note read.

Director Geetu Mohandas addressed attendees at a pre-release event in Chennai, reflecting on personal career advice from her father.

"a baker," Mohandas recalled answering when asked about her future goals, adding that her father advised her to "make sure she became the best baker in town."

Addressing online discussions regarding the film's female characters following the release of promotional material, Yash clarified the story's perspective during a promotional event in Hyderabad.

"a voice for women," Yash stated, adding that the full context of the characters would become clear to audiences in theaters.

Prior to the release, Yash visited Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala on Tuesday to offer prayers at the Sri Manjunatha Swamy temple.

"I come here regularly and before every movie. This time, due to work pressure, my visit was delayed and I came on the last date," Yash said.

He expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from his audience following the temple visit.

"Let Sri Manjunatha’s blessings be on all and let people's blessings be on us," Yash said.

Karnataka leads local regional sales with over Rs 17 crore in advance bookings, while the Hindi language version has surpassed Rs 15 crore in 2D screenings, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
