Tyler Perry Studios Launches Maxscene Specialty Label
Tyler Perry Studios has expanded its media empire by launching Maxscene, a new specialty division designed to provide independent filmmakers with direct theatrical distribution infrastructure and resources.
The newly established home base aims to bridge the gap for creators with distinctive voices who struggle to secure theatrical releases for completed projects. Head of Development and Acquisitions Antoinetta Stallings will oversee the label, following her previous role in launching the studio's joint venture with Pantheon Media Group.
The initiative holds personal significance for Perry, who named the label after his mother, Maxine, to honor her initial encouragement of his career.
"Everything I’ve built in my career carries my mother with it, and Maxscene is named in her honor," said Perry, Founder of Tyler Perry Studios. "My mother, Maxine, believed in me before anyone else did, and that belief is the reason I never stopped chasing this path. Maxscene exists to be that same source of belief for the next generation of storytellers. It’s about taking the confidence and encouragement she poured into me and paying it forward by championing filmmakers who need someone to believe in them, open the door, and help them reach the audience waiting on the other side."
The distribution arm operates out of Tyler Perry Studios' 330-acre facility in Atlanta, where the production company has generated dozens of feature films alongside thousands of television hours.
"I’ve spent my career working alongside filmmakers and watching incredibly talented storytellers struggle to find distribution for films that deserved to be seen," said Antoinetta Stallings, Head of Development and Acquisitions at Tyler Perry Studios. "That’s why launching Maxscene is such an exciting and necessary moment. We’re creating a home where independent filmmakers can build a career, not just release a movie. Maxscene gives creators the resources, support, and a path to distribution so their films have every opportunity to reach the audiences who may not have otherwise discovered them."
Maxscene serves as a dedicated pipeline to transport independent features from post-production directly onto commercial theater screens across the country.
