BetMGM Upgrades Betting App to Emulate Prediction Markets

BetMGM unveiled a major overhaul of its sports betting application ahead of the upcoming football season, introducing platform upgrades, faster execution speeds, and user interfaces that closely resemble financial prediction markets.

The operator, jointly owned by MGM Resorts International and Entain, is rolling out changes across its 31 jurisdictions. The platform redesign introduces home-screen bet tracking, automated backend trading processes, and the option to view odds as implied-probability percentages alongside traditional American odds formats.

The platform updates arrive as federal regulators push in the opposite direction. On August 7, 2026, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a joint staff letter ordering regulated event contract exchanges to discontinue using traditional American odds to avoid resembling sportsbooks.

BetMGM chief executive officer Adam Greenblatt highlighted the platform investments aimed at differentiating the product ahead of the football season.

"From faster performance and expanded live betting capabilities to new tools that help customers make informed decisions, these enhancements are designed to keep players connected to the action throughout every stage of the game," Greenblatt said in a release highlighting the upgrading platform.

The redesign incorporates customer feedback gathered over the past year to minimize latency when users navigate between tabs and place live wagers.

Brittany Dunbar, product management leader at BetMGM, detailed the technical enhancements made to the underlying trading systems during a product demonstration.

"We've modernized our trading tech stack. We've migrated to a next-gen trading stack, and what that's going to unlock for the player experience is really more seamless bet placement, better market availability, more cash-out capabilities," Dunbar said during a product demonstration. "Markets are going to be available more. Customers are going to be met with less bet placement delays or bet errors, and we're going to be increasing our cash-out uptime and availability."

The updated application positions open wagers and cash-out options directly on the main screen, making BetMGM the first major operator in the United States sportsbook market to offer this layout.

"Bet tracking is something that we're gonna continue to invest in, and we're also giving players the availability to bet track on lock screen," Dunbar said. "Cash-out is something that our players love, but it's buried deep in our product right now, so what we're doing is really taking that up and out and just meeting the user where they're at with their cash-out offers."

To personalize the experience, popular markets and player props feature prominently on the landing page, accompanied by automated betslip tools that isolate broken legs in same-game parlays.

"I'd say what's going to be different, or what customers are going to notice more about the homepage, is that it should feel more catered to what they like and what we know about them and what they like to bet," Dunbar said.

The app also includes player prop filtering and simplified navigation to streamline wager selection.

"getting bettors to the player that they want as quick as possible," Dunbar said.

Further betslip refinements allow users to remove invalid components without abandoning the entire wager.

"What's new for our players this season is we're separating out the leg that is breaking that SGP and essentially giving them the opportunity to delete it and place the good two-leg SGP," Dunbar said. "What this eventually lays the foundation for is us being able to provide a leg that a player could swap in to keep that three-team SGP good. But we've heard a lot that our betslip is not the best at telling people what's the leg that is breaking my SGP, and then being able to give them like quick edit access so they can get it out and we can get out of their way, and they can get their bet off."

Through a partnership with GTG Network, the app integrates statistical data, injury reporting, and historical line movements.

"What we've done is we've partnered with them to build out this page experience where we go a little bit deeper into the team-versus-team matchup, position-versus-position, some player-based information, and also expose injury information," Dunbar said.

Addressing external industry design influences, Dunbar acknowledged borrowing concepts from alternative trading products.

"We’re trying to glean some of those learnings and pull through what makes sense," Dunbar said.

Visual updates include value-over-time tracking charts similar to financial event contracts.

"They have a lot of nice visualizations where you see how value has changed for the bet," Dunbar said.

BetMGM expects to complete the full deployment of these features by the midpoint of the football season.
