Police Find Oregon Homicide Suspect Dead in Washington

Authorities found 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker dead of an apparent suicide in Enumclaw, Washington, following the discovery of five victims and several dead pets at a rural home near Forest Grove, Oregon, on Saturday.

Emergency crews initially responded to a reported vehicle fire near 47350 Northwest Otis Lane around 5:30 a.m. on August 22. Firefighters discovered human remains at the scene and immediately notified law enforcement officials to assist.

Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office secured the property, located approximately 25 to 30 miles west of downtown Portland. Property records indicate Parker previously lived at the Otis Lane address, surrounded by farmland and hidden from the road.

Detectives stated that the slayings do not appear to be random acts of violence. Officials are currently working to confirm the identities of all five victims and inform their next of kin.

"In my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation," said Caprice Massey, Washington County Sheriff.

Sheriff Massey noted that the incident is deeply concerning to the local community and emphasized that investigators have dedicated every available resource to the ongoing case.

Law enforcement officials assured the public that there is no active threat remaining. The Washington County Major Crimes Team is assisting with the active investigation.

"It’s a large scene. It’s a complex investigation, and there are many people involved in this investigation," said Shannon Wilde, Washington County Sheriff’s Detective.
