Suspects Arrested for Looting Coral Gables Home of Couple Killed in Kenya Helicopter Crash

Two individuals were arrested for robbing the Coral Gables home of a couple who died in a helicopter crash in Kenya. The theft occurred shortly after the accident that claimed the lives of the couple and five others.

The deceased, Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, died in the crash on August 19 along with five other people connected to South Florida. The robbery happened between August 20 and 22, according to Coral Gables police.

The suspects, Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Perdomo, 24, allegedly took valuable artwork, jewelry, electronics, documents, and the couple's 2023 Range Rover and 2020 Porsche Taycan from the residence on Valencia Avenue.

The theft was reported by the couple's housekeeper on August 23. Police tracked a stolen MacBook Pro and the Range Rover to a residence in northwest Miami-Dade, where a search warrant was executed.

During the search, Garcia tried to hide in a closet while Perdomo was found in an upstairs bedroom. Police recovered several stolen documents and a valuable sculpture worth approximately $500,000.

The investigation also uncovered equipment used for producing or altering fraudulent identification documents and a Ford F-250 with an altered VIN reported stolen in Indian River County.

Both suspects were charged with multiple felonies including burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft vehicle, and grand theft. They remain held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with bail pending.

The couple had been married since 2017. Hlavaty was a real estate executive and founder of MRKT Group, while Parra co-founded Trax USA, an aircraft maintenance software company based in Coral Gables.

At a bail hearing, a prosecutor noted Garcia’s prior felony convictions and questioned a notarized document presented by Garcia's attorney claiming family authorization to use the vehicles and home. The judge postponed bail decisions pending further evidence.
