USS Abraham Lincoln to Dock in Thailand After 250 Days at Sea
The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is scheduled to dock in Thailand next week for rest and recreation after spending over 250 consecutive days at sea during an extended Middle East deployment, a Thai official announced on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Carrying approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines, the vessel departed the Middle East on Saturday after being relieved by the USS George Washington. The deployment sets a modern-day record for consecutive days spent at sea without a port call, surpassing standard naval deployments that typically range between six and nine months.
The aircraft carrier original left its home port of San Diego on November 21, 2025, for an expected six-month mission, making only one scheduled port stop in Guam in mid-December before being redirected to support operations in the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
A Thai official confirmed the upcoming visit, highlighting the purpose of the stop for the vessel's crew.
"The ship, which has roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard, will be in Thailand for 'rest and recreation after their long sea journey'," said a Thai official.
Thailand's Navy confirmed that a U.S. Navy carrier strike group would make a brief logistics and rest stop in eastern Thailand without conducting joint military exercises.
"The stop is a routine port visit intended to allow personnel to rest and recuperate ... as well as to receive logistical support," said a spokesperson for the Thai Navy in a statement.
The visit follows growing concerns raised by congressional lawmakers and family members regarding shipboard conditions, extended timelines, and crew mental health. Defense officials declined to comment on specific future ship movements, citing operational security.
Following its stop in Thailand, the USS Abraham Lincoln is expected to arrive on the U.S. mainland within four to five weeks, where it is anticipated to eventually transit to Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Washington.
