Rashid Shaheed Highlights Loss of Jake Bobo to Knee Injury

Seattle Seahawks veteran wide receiver Rashid Shaheed praised injured wideout Jake Bobo on Tuesday, emphasizing the significant impact of losing the third-year player for the 2026 season following a knee injury suffered during a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans.

Bobo caught two passes for 20 yards during the 2025 regular season, but Shaheed noted that the limited statistics fail to reflect his true value to the organization.

"It’s a huge loss," Shaheed said. "He’s a heartbeat of the offense."

The Seahawks demonstrated Bobo's value during the offseason by matching a two-year, $5.5 million offer sheet with $4.5 million fully guaranteed from the Jacksonville Jaguars in March. Beyond his receiving role, Seattle values Bobo for his blocking contributions in the running game and his play on special teams.

"We look to him for a lot of big plays and, you know, he’s been that, you know, since he’s been a part of this organization," Shaheed said. "And losing him, it definitely hurts."

Bobo has accumulated 34 catches for 323 yards and three touchdowns over 45 regular-season games since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He also recorded a 17-yard touchdown reception during the NFC Championship Game.

The injury opens up competition behind Seattle's top three receivers, Shaheed, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Cooper Kupp, as the team prepares for its final preseason contest against the Kansas City Chiefs on August 28.

Shaheed described the absence as "a little dent" in the receiver room while expressing confidence in the roster depth.

"We have guys that are going to step up," Shaheed said. "I love our depth. We have a lot of guys that can make a lot of plays, tons of talent."

Among those pushing for an expanded role is Montorie Foster Jr., who spent time on Seattle's practice squad last year and led the team with five receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown in the preseason opener against Dallas.

Shaheed commended the young wideout's effort during Tuesday's press conference.

Shaheed said Foster "works super, super hard" and has "an opportunity to do something special."
