4A Games Unveils Metro 2039 Collector's Edition with Wearable Helmet at Gamescom
4A Games revealed the Collector's Edition of Metro 2039 during Gamescom 2026, featuring a life-size, wearable Spartan helmet modeled after the new protagonist, The Stranger.
The game is set to launch in February 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with pre-orders for the Collector's Edition opening later this year, according to ign.com and playfront.de.
The helmet included in the Collector's Edition is a solid, detailed replica complete with a visor, battle damage, and an integrated breathing mask, designed to offer fans an authentic piece of the Metro universe rather than a mere display item, as described by playfront.de.
During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live ceremony, 4A Games also showcased a new gameplay trailer highlighting Metro 2039's dark and detailed post-apocalyptic world. The trailer reveals stealth and combat sequences set in Novoreich-occupied Moscow and explores the haunting environments from underground stations to irradiated surfaces, according to insider-gaming.com and gematsu.com.
"This trailer gives players just a taste of the hauntingly beautiful hand-crafted environments waiting to be explored," said Jon Bloch, executive producer at 4A Games, during the presentation.
Co-creative director Pavel Ulmer added, "The new gameplay trailer uncovers more of the dark past and mysterious identity of The Stranger as he employs a mixture of stealth and all-out combat to infiltrate a Novoreich-occupied Moscow."
The game marks a shift from previous Metro titles by featuring a new protagonist known as The Stranger, a Spartan who was exiled but now returns to confront a dark past, as reported by insider-gaming.com.
Metro 2039 has surpassed one million wishlists, signaling strong anticipation among fans of post-apocalyptic survival games. The game's engine improvements and detailed world design promise a more immersive experience compared to its predecessor, Metro Exodus from 2019, according to insider-gaming.com.
At Gamescom, visitors could play Metro 2039 firsthand at PLAION's booth, alongside other games such as the upcoming Tomb Raider remake and Star Wars: Galactic Racer, as detailed by virus.hr.
