Jed York Pleads No Contest Following Arrest in Ohio

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York pleaded no contest on Monday, August 24, 2026, to two misdemeanor charges after being arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, during an undercover prostitution sting operation.

The Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force and East Palestine Police Department arrested York on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m. at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community.

Authorities initially charged York with misdemeanor counts of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. A plea agreement filed Monday morning amended the prostitution charge to misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to an incident report obtained from law enforcement, York used the alias "Joe" when responding to an ad on a prostitution website. He contacted an undercover officer three times before arranging to meet for sexual activity in exchange for payment.

Court records show police seized $160 and York's cellphone at the scene. The arrest affidavit noted an agreed price of $140 for the interaction. York's phone was later returned to him after officers confirmed it was the device used to arrange the meeting.

Columbiana County Court records indicate York was sentenced to one day in jail for each charge, served concurrently with one day of credit for time served. He paid $1,150 in total fines, including $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for criminal tools.

Local prosecutor Vito Abruzzino explained the resolution of the case in an email statement.

"This was routine for someone facing those types of charges in our area and not having a history of this type of criminal conduct in his past," wrote Abruzzino.

York's legal counsel did not respond to requests for comment regarding the matter.

The team addressed the resolution of the case in a brief statement released following the court proceedings.

"As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time," said the 49ers.

The league also confirmed it is monitoring the situation for potential disciplinary actions.

"aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy," said the NFL.

League officials subsequently confirmed that further action remains under consideration.

York has served as chief executive officer of the 49ers since 2008 and became the team's majority owner in 2024. Under his tenure, the franchise built Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and reached three Super Bowls.
