SF 49ers Owner Jed York Pleads No Contest to Misdemeanor Charges

San Francisco 49ers owner John "Jed" York pleaded no contest on Monday, August 24, 2026, to two misdemeanor charges in Ohio after being arrested by the East Palestine Police Department over the weekend.

Court records from Columbiana, Ohio, show York was initially arrested on Sunday on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. Local prosecutors subsequently amended that charge to misdemeanor disorderly conduct during Monday morning court proceedings.

York entered no contest pleas to both the amended disorderly conduct charge and an additional misdemeanor charge for possessing criminal tools. Under the plea agreement, he was sentenced to pay $1,150 in total fines, consisting of $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools, according to KRON4 News and local court documents.

The court also sentenced the 46-year-old executive to one day in jail for each count, with one day considered already served. The official arrest report did not specify which items prompted the criminal tools charge.

York, a Youngstown, Ohio native who maintains property in the city, has served as chief executive officer of the San Francisco franchise since 2008 and became its majority owner in 2024.
