Three PGA Tour golfers—Patrick Cantlay, Gary Woodland, and Robert MacIntyre—played their way into the top 30 at the BMW Championship on Sunday, August 23, 2026, to qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

Wyndham Clark won the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis for his third victory of the 2026 season, elevating him to No. 3 in the FedEx Cup standings. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler tied for 12th place, securing his position at the top of the standings for the fifth straight season heading into East Lake.

Cantlay entered the week ranked No. 43 before shooting a 2-under 68 on Sunday with birdies on his final three holes. His runner-up finish boosted him to No. 19 in the FedEx Cup standings, marking his sixth consecutive qualification for Atlanta.

"Next week's a golf course that I think suits me really well," said Patrick Cantlay, 2021 FedEx Cup Champion. "So, I'm really happy to be going back."

Woodland started the week ranked No. 31 and finished tied for fourth at 12-under, jumping to No. 18 in the standings to earn his first trip to East Lake since 2019. He was playing while continuing to deal with post-traumatic stress from a 2023 brain surgery, which makes large crowds and loud noises challenging triggers.

"With everything I battled this year," said Gary Woodland, 2019 U.S. Open Champion. "I'm super proud of myself, I can tell you that."

Woodland reflected further on his performance after navigating the weekend crowds in St. Louis.

"I'm glad this week's over with, but I'm proud of where I'm going next week," said Gary Woodland, PGA Tour Golfer.

He noted how shifting his mental approach helped him secure his spot during the final round.

"I tried to block it out yesterday and I couldn't do it. It drained me," said Gary Woodland, PGA Tour Golfer. "Today, I tried to embrace it.

So I'm proud of myself for coming with a different mindset today than I did yesterday. I played, outside of one really bad shot, I played beautifully today."

MacIntyre moved from No. 36 to No. 25 after shooting a closing 65 to finish tied for seventh. The Scotsman had withdrawn from the previous week's event in Memphis due to a cyst on his right knee.

"It's good to extend the season on the PGA Tour an extra week. Satisfying round of golf today. It was absolutely beautiful," said Robert MacIntyre, PGA Tour Golfer.

MacIntyre reiterated his satisfaction with turning his week around after dealing with physical pain.

"It's great," said Robert MacIntyre, PGA Tour Golfer. "It's good to extend the season on the PGA TOUR an extra week. Satisfying round of golf today. It was absolutely beautiful."

The three players who were pushed out of the top 30 standings were Rickie Fowler, Kurt Kitayama, and Bud Cauley. Fowler finished tied for 37th after shooting a final-round 70, ending up at No. 33. Sungjae Im dropped to No. 37 after a final-round 71, snapping a seven-year streak of reaching the Tour Championship.

Ryan Fox captured the 30th and final spot in the standings, joining six first-time Tour Championship qualifiers in 2026. Qualifying for East Lake secures a two-year PGA Tour exemption and invitations to major tournaments in 2027.

After finishing his round and learning of his status outside the top 30, Poston left the course to spend time with family while Fleener watched the remaining projection boards.

"I don’t like rooting against anyone," said Aaron Fleener, caddie for J.T. Poston.

Meanwhile, 46-year-old Adam Scott successfully maintained his position inside the field, securing the No. 28 spot.

"Survived," said Adam Scott, PGA Tour Golfer. "We survived."
