Angel Reese broke the WNBA single-game rebounding record with 26 rebounds and set a new league season rebounding mark as the Atlanta Dream beat the Los Angeles Sparks 78-71 on Monday night in Los Angeles, according to ABC7. The win also followed Atlanta’s streak of nine straight victories over the Sparks.

ABC7 reported Reese surpassed Chamique Holdsclaw’s record of 24 rebounds, set on May 23, 2003 for Washington. Reese finished the game with 11 points and secured her WNBA-leading 27th double-double of the season by scoring on a basket with 13.9 seconds left.

Reese totaled 458 rebounds this season, seven more than Aja Wilson’s mark set in 2024, ABC7 reported. Allisha Gray led Atlanta with 20 points, and Rhyne Howard added 18 points to eclipse 3,000 for her career.

ABC7 said Gray also set an Atlanta record for field goals in a season with 247.

Nneka Ogwumike led Los Angeles with 27 points and 16 rebounds, ABC7 reported. Dearica Hamby and Cameron Brink scored 15 points each for the Sparks.

ABC7 reported Atlanta is scheduled to host Portland on Friday, while Los Angeles is scheduled to host Washington on Friday.
