The date briefly appeared on the website of Swiss online retailer World of Games before being removed, following an initial teaser reveal by Nintendo in June 2026. An online community member on Reddit noticed the listing, pointing out that the seller previously published accurate launch dates ahead of official company announcements, such as the release of Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition on the Nintendo Switch.

Industry analysts note that a December launch places the title right after the November 19 release of Grand Theft Auto VI, allowing Nintendo to target the holiday shopping window without competing directly on the exact same weekend.

Nintendo has already confirmed to investors during financial reports that the project is scheduled for a late 2026 launch window, alongside receiving an official ESRB rating of E10+ for Animated Blood and Fantasy Violence in the United States. While early pre-order listings have shown placeholder pricing at $59.99, industry experts suggest final pricing could align with premium Switch 2 titles closer to $69.99, particularly given the game's timing near the 40th anniversary of the franchise and the upcoming live-action film adaptation scheduled for theatrical release on April 30, 2027.
