Terranigma Modern Port Coming to Consoles and PC in 2027
Publisher Clear River Games and Square Enix announced on August 24, 2026, that the 1995 Super Nintendo action RPG Terranigma will launch in early 2027 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG.
Developed by the now-defunct studio Quintet and originally published by Enix for the Super Famicom, the 16-bit title follows a boy named Ark who embarks on a quest to revive a ruined, hollow Earth. Despite receiving a PAL release in Europe and Australia in late 1996, the title never officially launched in North America due to the closure of Enix's US division, and it has remained unplayable on modern platforms without community modifications.
The upcoming re-release marks the first time Western players can officially access an English-language version running at the original 60Hz speed. Clear River Games confirmed the port will preserve the classic pixel art and soundtrack while introducing gameplay tweaks, modern accessibility enhancements, and bonus features.
Clear River Games general manager Ali Manzuri highlighted the game's long-standing unavailability during the product announcement.
