Vasco Hosts Vitoria in Copa do Brasil Quarterfinal First Leg
Vasco da Gama hosts Vitoria on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 9:30 p.m. local time at the San Januario stadium in Rio de Janeiro for the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals.
The match will be broadcast live across TV Globo, sportv, Premiere, and Amazon Prime Video. Matheus Delgado Candancan is set to referee the encounter, supported by assistants Danilo Ricardo Simon Manis and Alex Ang Ribeiro, with Daniel Nobre Bins serving as the video assistant referee.
Vasco reached the quarterfinal stage after securing a 3-1 victory against Fluminense at the Maracana following a goalless first leg. However, head coach Pedro Emanuel's side faces mounting pressure in the domestic league, remaining winless in their last eight Serie A fixtures and sitting second from bottom with 22 points.
Pedro Emanuel rotated his starting lineup from the team that lost to Palmeiras last weekend. Lucas Piton steps in for Cuiabano, who was ruled out due to a left hamstring injury. Additionally, Colidio, Spinelli, Barros, and Ramon Rique replace Adson, David, Sosa, and Tche Tche in the starting eleven.
Vasco's confirmed lineup features Leo Jardim in goal; Puma Rodriguez, Cuesta, Robert Renan, and Lucas Piton in defense; Barros, Thiago Mendes, and Ramon Rique in midfield; and Colidio, Andres Gomez, and Spinelli in attack.
Vitoria enters the matchup seeking recovery after losing the Ba-Vi derby in Serie A. Jair Ventura's team advanced to the quarterfinals following comeback wins over Flamengo and Athletico at the Barradao. However, Vitoria has yet to win a away game against a Serie A opponent this season.
Vitoria's starting squad consists of Lucas Arcanjo; Britez, Caca, Luan Candido, and Ramon; Caio Goncalves, Martinez, and Ze Vitor; Marinho, Matheuzinho, and Renato Kayzer. The return leg is scheduled for September 2 at the Barradao.
