Tennis icon Serena Williams returned to competitive action at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday, partnering with Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open mixed doubles event as her family cheered from the stands in New York City.

Williams and Alcaraz earned a victory over Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool at Arthur Ashe Stadium before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli.

Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, attended the match alongside their two daughters, Olympia and Adira. Before the match, Williams balanced mother duties with preparation, sharing a simple update about her routine.

"Mom. Teacher. Then tennis practice," said Serena Williams, tennis champion.

Ohanian also documented their family activities in New York prior to the tournament. He detailed their stops around the city while playfully noting his wife's reaction to his choices.

"Busy Sunday with the girls in NYC. Chinatown visit because @olympiaohanian desperately wanted to try durian. And I did PapaPancake research at Golden Diner. Queens for BBQ dinner and Mama approved of the cornbread and I couldn’t believe she doubted my restaurant-picking abilities 😂," said Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder.

Following the mixed doubles matches on Tuesday, Ohanian shared photos of their daughters supporting Williams on social media.

"Always cheering for mama @serenawilliams (and @carlitosalcarazz !!)," said Alexis Ohanian, husband of Serena Williams.

Ohanian previously praised his wife's dedication following her earlier singles comeback attempt at Wimbledon in June.

"Our little family is so proud of you @serenawilliams – even though it wasn’t the outcome you wanted, you’re an inspiration," said Alexis Ohanian, entrepreneur.

He expressed gratitude for the experience and the lasting impact on their children.

"We love you. @olympiaohanian @adiraohanian are also happy they got to stay up a bit past their bedtime ." said Alexis Ohanian, father of two.

Despite the mixed doubles exit, Williams will remain in New York. The USTA announced Wednesday that Serena and her sister, Venus Williams, received a wild card entry into the women's doubles tournament.
