Tristan Peters Hits 5th Straight Homer, White Sox Beat Rangers 10-4

Tristan Peters homered for the fifth consecutive game, tying a franchise and MLB rookie record, as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 10-4 on Wednesday night in Chicago.

The victory came in the final game of a three-game series between the teams. Peters had three hits and three runs batted in (RBIs), while teammate Brenton Doyle contributed a three-run homer and a run-scoring single.

Sean Newcomb earned the win after pitching three scoreless innings. Jonathan Cannon secured his first save since 2024 by allowing two runs over the final three innings.

Peters’ two-run homer in the fifth inning extended the White Sox lead to 6-2. He and Munetaka Murakami are the only rookies in franchise history to homer in five consecutive games in the same season, according to ESPN and MLB reports.

"I feel like I'm staying on my backside a little more," Peters said before the game. "Seeing the ball better, and obviously it feels a lot better to be doing well. They adjusted to me, and I'm just trying to adjust back.

"I've always pulled balls in the air well. Whether it was on the barrel or not, that was my issue. But I think staying back, just letting the ball travel a little longer, is letting me recognize pitches better. I think that's helped a lot and just gotten me more precise on my barrel."

Peters now has 12 home runs on the season. His five-game homer streak ties the longest by a rookie in MLB history, a feat completed 13 times. Ron Kittle (1983) was the only other White Sox rookie to accomplish this, and Murakami also did so this year.

Texas struggled with runners in scoring position, going 2 for 14 and leaving 12 runners stranded. The Rangers have lost 12 of their last 15 road games and dropped six consecutive road series, their longest such streak since 2021.

Joc Pederson hit a two-run homer for Texas in the third inning, and Ezequiel Duran added a two-run single in the seventh. MacKenzie Gore allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings, ending a nine-game winning streak for Texas starters.

White Sox starter Sean Burke walked eight batters and allowed two runs in three-plus innings.

Chicago’s win kept them 2 1/2 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central. The White Sox improved to 70-63, matching the most wins by a team after three consecutive 100-loss seasons.

The Rangers will begin a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, with left-hander Cody Bradford (0-2, 3.05 ERA) starting. The White Sox will open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins that same day, led by Luis Castillo (4-10, 5.19 ERA).
