Tottenham Faces Charlton Athletic in Carabao Cup Second Round Match

Tottenham Hotspur hosts Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup second round on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, aiming to rebound from a 3-0 Premier League defeat against Brentford.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi revealed squad availability during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of the 7:45 p.m. BST kickoff in North London.

De Zerbi confirmed that several key players are returning to the team sheet while addressing ongoing injury concerns within the squad.

"Van de Ven comes on the bench, Pedro Porro comes on the bench. Solanke is available to play. I'm glad to have Pedro Porro inside and Micky van de Ven inside of the squad," De Zerbi said.

The manager provided additional player updates regarding the rest of his roster.

"Kudus is not ready yet and Maddison suffered a small injury in the shoulder," De Zerbi said.

Tottenham enters the competition in the second round due to a lack of European fixtures, seeking to improve on their previous second-round exit against Fulham in the 2022-23 season.

Charlton Athletic arrives following two consecutive victories, including a 2-1 Championship victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium.
