Manchester City sells Savinho and rebrands him as Sávio

Manchester City have sold Savinho to Tottenham, flipping the winger for a reported profit after rebranding him as Sávio, his Girona name. The deal starts at 75 million pounds with add-ons that could raise the total to 85 million pounds. Tottenham are expected to use him on the right flank.

City paid 30.8 million pounds for Savinho two seasons earlier, according to the report. It says the 22-year-old Brazilian scored two goals in 53 league appearances for City before the move.

City rebranded the player by switching his name to Sávio after his arrival, reverting to the monicker he used during a loan spell at Girona. The article says he scored 11 goals and set up 10 others in that loan run.

The source also links the right-wing opportunity to Mikey Moore, describing him as likely to be displaced. It adds that Moore had started in the weekend’s Premier League match at Brentford, when Roberto De Zerbi named him for attention after a 3-0 loss.

It says the group includes Mikaël Silvestre, Lucy Bronze, Emmanual Petit and David James, and it references Gianni Infantino as the target of the criticism.

"I don’t think that [he] has done anything wrong," said Samuel Eto’o. "I think the timing of all [the criticism] is because there’s an election coming out."
