Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Tops NBA 2K27 Player Ratings
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander earned the highest rating in NBA 2K27 at a 97 overall ahead of the video game's scheduled release on Sept. 4, 2026, leading the top-100 player rollouts according to game developers and media reports.
Gilgeous-Alexander shares the top 97 overall rating with San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic after the trio finished at the top of the previous season's Most Valuable Player voting.
The player ratings release sparked widespread debate across the league, particularly surrounding the reigning champion New York Knicks and several prominent stars whose scores drew scrutiny from analysts.
New York saw all five of its starting players land within the top 79 players in the game, led by team captain and reigning Finals MVP Jalen Brunson with a 96 overall rating according to Daily Knicks.
Brunson tied for the fourth-highest score alongside Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Frontcourt partner Karl-Anthony Towns secured a 93 overall rating to rank as the 14th best player, while wing OG Anunoby earned an 88 overall rating to place 24th overall in the roster updates.
Knicks starters Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart rounded out the championship lineup with ratings of 84 and 82, placing them 68th and 79th in the league rankings respectively.
Despite 21 players receiving a rating of 90 overall or higher, several prominent player evaluations drew criticism according to analysis from The Game.
Philadelphia 76ers guard Jaylen Brown received a 91 overall rating following his MVP-candidate campaign with the Boston Celtics, dropping from his previous 95 rating mark. Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker received an 83 overall rating despite winning the NBA's Most Improved Player award, while Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes was assigned an 88 overall rating after leading his team to the fifth seed in the conference.
