Rupert Grint, who famously played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, will reprise his role on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for 17 weeks starting February 2, 2027, through May 30, 2027, according to playbill.com and other sources. The production opened on Broadway in 2018 and has since sold over 14 million tickets worldwide, earning more than $532 million in New York alone, as reported by The Guardian. Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy, will continue his role until January 3, 2027.

Grint expressed excitement about returning to the role he originated as a child, saying, "Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again in this stage of life." He highlighted the full-circle nature of revisiting the character as both he and Ron are now fathers.

He added, "And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life is truly exciting. The first time I saw Cursed Child onstage, I was blown away and I can’t wait to set foot back on Platform 9 ¾ and pick up where I left off."

The show's producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender praised Grint’s return, stating it "creates a powerful bridge between the story audiences first fell in love with and the story of family, legacy and the passage of time that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child carries forward." They emphasized that Grint's portrayal preserved the character's heart, humor, and bravery. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany, continues the story 19 years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, focusing on the next generation of Hogwarts students.

Grint’s recent work includes the film Nightborn, which premiered at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival, and the upcoming Paramount Pictures release Ebenezer. He has also appeared on Broadway and the West End, establishing a varied acting career beyond Harry Potter.
