Postal 2 Redux Will Launch in Spring 2027 Across Multiple Platforms

Developers Impact Reality and Running With Scissors announced that Postal 2 Redux will launch in spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, PlayStation 4, and Quest, after a successful Kickstarter campaign fully funded the remastered first-person shooter.

The project secured over $680,000 in crowdfunding, far exceeding its initial target of $250,000 by reaching its goal within a single day. The upcoming remaster is being built on the Unity 6 engine by co-developers Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and Impact Reality alongside original members of Running With Scissors.

Originally released in 2003, the open-world sandbox game became infamous for its extreme violence and dark humor, earning a Guinness World Record for being the most critically divisive video game before receiving bans in New Zealand, Australia, and Germany. The new version will introduce upgraded textures, enhanced lighting, improved level streaming without load screens, rebalanced combat, and smarter NPC artificial intelligence.

The title will mark the franchise's debut on PlayStation hardware, featuring modern console controls alongside expanded physics system capabilities.

The remaster originated during the development of a VR conversion when creators realized modern engine capabilities allowed for a full visual and technical overhaul.

“When we made the original POSTAL 2, we set out to build something that didn’t exist anywhere else, a game defined by total player freedom. It filled a need, and we blew some minds along the way. More than 25 years later, we wanted to bring modern technology and game systems to that original vision, and the response from the community overwhelmed us.

We’ve been hard at work to deliver exactly that, and to bring it to more platforms like PS5, and here we are. We can’t wait for players to get their hands on it,” said Running With Scissors founder and CEO Vince Desi.

Late pledges for the crowdfunding campaign remain open on Kickstarter ahead of the game's planned Q1 2027 release window.
