Police Unearth Illicit Drug Stashes Ahead of Creamfields Festival

Cheshire Police uncovered hidden stashes of illegal drugs buried underground at the Creamfields Festival site in Daresbury ahead of the annual event. Up to 80,000 dance music fans are expected to attend the festival, which runs from August 27 to August 31. Specialist search officers retrieved a substantial haul of Class A, B, and C drugs during pre-event disruption operations.

The seized stash contained large bags of ecstasy, MDMA, ketamine tablets, and approximately 204 canisters of nitrous oxide. Photographs released by law enforcement showed green tablets shaped like Cornetto logos among the confiscated items. Superintendent Andy Blizard indicated that individuals attempt to bypass security measures every year by hiding illicit substances months prior to the event.

"Every year, we counter a number of brazen individuals who think they can outsmart us by concealing drugs from view or burying them at the site months in advance," said Superintendent Andy Blizard, Cheshire Police.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that strict enforcement measures will remain active across the festival grounds throughout the weekend. "There is a zero-tolerance policy regarding drugs," said Superintendent Andy Blizard, Cheshire Police.

Search teams spent considerable time combing the grounds and expect to recover additional hidden contraband as sweeps continue leading up to the opening day. "We fully expect to find further quantities as our searches continue, leaving many of those who chose to bury these items very much disappointed to find them no longer where they left them when they arrive at the festival to dig them back up," said Superintendent Andy Blizard, Cheshire Police.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace those who hid the bags on the premises. "Anyone who has buried a rucksack or holdall bag at the site and would like it back is asked to get in contact with us," said Superintendent Andy Blizard, Cheshire Police. Officers plan to maintain a visible presence alongside event security staff to deter crime and maintain order throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend, according to the Cheshire force.
