Police Investigate Southwest Airlines Flight Attendant Death in Hawaii
Honolulu police have launched an unattended death investigation after Southwest Airlines flight attendant Lupton, a resident of Moore, Oklahoma, was found dead in Waikiki during a work layover, family members and law enforcement confirmed to KOCO 5.
Authorities have not yet released additional details surrounding the circumstances of her death. Officials noted that both the official cause and manner of death remain pending further medical examination and formal inquiry.
Airline representatives expressed grief over the employee's sudden passing and indicated they are fully cooperating with local law enforcement agencies while providing assistance to the grieving family.
"The Southwest Airlines family is deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague during a layover in Hawaii," Southwest Airlines officials said in a statement. "We have offered our condolences and support to the Employee’s family and co-workers and are engaged with local authorities as they investigate."
The Moore High School graduate's relatives confirmed they are awaiting official answers regarding the circumstances of her death as municipal investigators continue their work.
"We have not talked to the police yet. We have only spoke (with the) medical examiner," Lupton's family told KOCO 5.
