New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson left the team's training camp practice early on Monday, August 24, 2026, after suffering an apparent right lower-leg injury during an 11-on-11 rushing drill.

The second-year back lost his footing while making a cut on the team's slick lower grass field, according to practice reporting from NBC Sports, Sports Illustrated, and Heavy. Medical trainers briefly evaluated Henderson on the field before he walked into the team facility to undergo further checks on his right foot, ankle, and leg.

The setback comes shortly after Henderson returned to practice Monday morning, having sat out Saturday night's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to an undisclosed issue. The Patriots have not issued an official update regarding the severity of the injury or his status for Thursday's preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns.

Henderson was selected 38th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft following a college national championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes. As a rookie, he rushed for 911 yards and nine touchdowns on a franchise rookie-record 5.1 yards per carry, earning PFWA All-Rookie Team honors while sharing workload responsibilities with Rhamondre Stevenson.

Any potential absence for Henderson could shift primary backfield touches to Stevenson, with reserve backs JaMycal Hasty and rookie Jam Miller positioned for expanded roles if the injury requires extended recovery time ahead of New England's September 9 regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
