Paradox Interactive Announces LEGO Skylines City Builder Game
Paradox Interactive officially revealed LEGO Skylines, an upcoming city-builder video game featuring digital plastic bricks, during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event on August 25, 2026. The title serves as a official spin-off of the established Cities: Skylines franchise.
As reported by Kotaku, the announcement included a brief teaser trailer showcasing the game's mechanics, though developers did not specify an official release date during the broadcast. GoNintendo subsequently confirmed that the city-building simulator is also in development for the Switch 2 console.
Official promotional materials describe the title as a customizable experience designed without strict instructions, giving players open space to construct metropolitan areas. Players must manage essential municipal utilities such as electricity, water supply, sewage, garbage collection, and hospital infrastructure to maintain citizen satisfaction.
The announcement follows months of industry speculation regarding the project. As reported by Brick Fanatics, a rating for LEGO Skylines briefly appeared via South Korea's game classification board earlier in May 2026 before being temporarily removed.
The LEGO Group is continuing its event presence at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, running from August 26 through August 30, 2026. Their physical convention booth features a life-sized recreation of the LEGO Fortnite Rave Cave set in Hall 9.
