NFL Expands Streaming Windows as Sunday Ticket Prices Increase

National broadcast expansions by the National Football League for the 2026 season have fragmented game distribution across streaming platforms, raising the total cost for fans while reducing the content available on traditional out-of-market packages.

Subscribers to NFL Sunday Ticket face higher standard rates despite fewer games appearing on the Sunday afternoon schedule, according to sports media reports published on August 24, 2026. The shift comes as the league allocates exclusive inventory to platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Peacock.

Standard non-discounted pricing for NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube stands at $480 annually, or $378 for existing YouTube TV subscribers. Discounted rates are available for select groups, including a $240 annual price for new subscribers, $198 for military personnel and first responders via ID.me, and $119 for verified students.

The package's overall coverage is limited by the league's expanded schedule, which places games outside the traditional Sunday afternoon windows. Sunday Ticket excludes local market broadcasts, Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football. For instance, Michigan viewers cannot stream Detroit Lions games on the service due to local broadcast restrictions on Fox and CBS.

For the 2026 regular season, streaming services hold exclusive rights to multiple standalone windows. Netflix will broadcast five games, including a Thursday night opener between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, a Thanksgiving Eve matchup, two Christmas Day games, and a late-season Saturday game. Amazon Prime Video retains Thursday Night Football alongside a Black Friday game between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In total, six games are scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays this season. Additionally, nine international games are scheduled to air primarily on the NFL Network at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Whenever the NFL sells an exclusive window to a national broadcaster, the matchup is removed from the Sunday afternoon regional slate covered by Sunday Ticket.

Broadcast availability varies by franchise depending on primetime scheduling. Teams such as the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and Green Bay Packers are each scheduled for at least six primetime appearances. Conversely, the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders currently have no traditional primetime games scheduled.

Comprehensive access to every broadcast requires subscriptions across multiple services. A full season setup including YouTube TV, Sunday Ticket, Netflix, Prime Video, and Peacock ranges from approximately $810 for new Sunday Ticket subscribers to over $1,050 for returning users paying full price.
