Marvel Studios Sets Avengers Endgame Encore Release With New Footage

Marvel Studios released a new trailer and poster on August 25, 2026, announcing the theatrical re-release of "Avengers: Endgame Encore" on September 25, 2026. The extended version contains four additional minutes of footage designed to lead directly into "Avengers: Doomsday." Listings from AMC Theatres reveal that the theatrical cut for "Avengers: Endgame Encore" runs for 185 minutes, or 3 hours and 5 minutes.

The new runtime officially makes it the longest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surpassing the 181-minute original 2019 release and the 161-minute runtime of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Tickets are currently on sale for the September 25 return to cinemas. The theatrical presentation includes an exclusive preview of "Avengers: Doomsday," with premium large-format screenings in IMAX and Disney's newly certified Infinity Vision venues receiving an additional sneak peek.

The added material features a specialized introduction, extra footage, and a new post-credits sequence to bridge the narrative gap before "Avengers: Doomsday" opens in theaters on December 18, 2026. Speculated extra scenes include Steve Rogers conversing with Ant-Man at Tony Stark's funeral and Loki appearing alongside the Time Variance Authority.

Co-directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo initially announced the project alongside Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at CinemaCon. The executive leadership confirmed the re-release would incorporate new sequences alongside narrative connections tying back to the original X-Men franchise. According to Feige, "Avengers: Doomsday" will pick up directly where "Avengers: Endgame" left off, while also referencing the earliest origins of the overall franchise. Robert Downey Jr. is scheduled to return to the film series as Doctor Doom, with the Russo brothers directing.

The upcoming September 25 re-release marks the first instance in MCU history where newly filmed footage created after a movie's initial theatrical run is integrated directly into the core story. Advance ticket sales and local theater schedule listings are now live ahead of the fall release.
