Lina Luaces Debuts as Telemundo Host After Miss Universe Cuba Reign

Lina Luaces launched her television career as a presenter on Telemundo just days after handing over the Miss Universe Cuba crown to her successor, Mia Dio.

Her debut occurred on a Tuesday during the show En Casa con Telemundo, where she presented a fashion segment focused on the season's fall looks. This marked her official entry into television, following in the footsteps of her mother, Lili Estefan.

During the segment, Lina displayed confidence on camera and showcased improved Spanish skills after representing Cuba last year in Thailand.

Lina expressed enthusiasm about studying fashion, noting her experience last year when she had to dress as a queen. She said, "I loved studying fashion because last year I had to dress as a queen and now I can start finding my own style again." She also mentioned admiring the styles of Jennifer Lopez and Georgina Rodríguez.

Despite admiring other women, Lina highlighted her mother as her primary inspiration, especially in fashion. For her debut, she wore a special bicolor dress, white in front and black on the back, the same dress Lili Estefan wore on her birthday during the show El Gordo y la Flaca in March, symbolizing their close bond.

Reflecting on her Miss Universe Cuba experience, Lina said she had to pause her studies to compete but emphasized education remains her priority. She told Despierta América, "I had to stop my studies to compete, and I said in my final response last year that education is my priority because that is something no one can take away from you."

She added, "I will finish my studies, but I will continue modeling and pursue my career in entertainment. I am happy and very excited about what’s coming. I don’t see this as the end of anything, it is the beginning."

In addition, Lina shared gratitude toward Jomari Goyso, who supported her during her reign. She returned to the show shortly before passing her crown and spoke about the lessons learned and her next career steps.
