Kyle Singler Accuses Coach K of Abandonment Amid Personal Crisis

Former Duke and NBA player Kyle Singler posted a series of troubling videos on August 25, accusing his former coach Mike Krzyzewski of abandoning him amid serious personal difficulties.

Singler, 38, appeared disheveled and distressed in the videos, claiming he has no power or house and alleging theft and sabotage. He said he reached out to Coach K but was dismissed, and that people are watching his residence and trying to harm him.

Singler played four seasons at Duke under Krzyzewski, helping the team win the 2010 NCAA championship. He later played six NBA seasons with the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder before ending his professional career in 2019.

In one video, Singler said, "Man, Coach K has set me up. Set me up, man. I have no power.

I have no house. I've reached out to coach and everybody has turned the other way. I've reached out to Coach and he has fully dismissed the message."

He described feeling imprisoned at his home, with his bank accounts frozen and utilities cut off. "I'm stuck at my house and I can't leave," he said. "I feel imprisoned.

Where we at? Leaving people stranded. My life's on the line.

I got people breaking into my house, jacking money, breaking into my accounts. And you know what? Duke's all about it.

I got Duke begging for my money. Everybody's after my money, trying to kill me. What's going on?"

Singler also expressed frustration with his treatment in public in Oklahoma, saying he is often arrested or kicked out of restaurants. "Coach, man, I've reached out to you many times and tried to share with you where I'm at and you've just been deflective, leaving people in the dust," he added. "I don't respect it."

His troubling posts are not new. In November 2024, Singler posted a video expressing fear for his life and claims of mistreatment. At that time, NBA players including Kevin Love publicly showed support.

Singler was a standout college player, averaging 16.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game at Duke, and scored 19 points in the 2010 NCAA title game. He was drafted in 2011 by the Detroit Pistons and played six NBA seasons.

He also spent time playing professionally in Spain and for Real Madrid before finishing his career. His mental health and personal safety concerns remain a subject of public and professional concern.
