Julie Chen Moonves Names Potential Successors for Big Brother Hosting Role

Julie Chen Moonves, host of CBS's Big Brother, shared who she would want to replace her if she ever stepped down from the show. She discussed this as the reality series approaches its 30th season in two years.

She identified Season 24 winner Taylor Hale as a perfect candidate. Hale has experience hosting Big Brother: Unlocked alongside Derrick Levasseur and Jerry O’Connell. She once substituted for Chen Moonves during a live episode and works as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.

Speaking with Variety about the show's 1,000th episode, Chen Moonves explained that while other hosts contribute creatively, she prefers to focus solely on hosting without the pressure of casting or producing.

Chen Moonves also mentioned Derrick Levasseur, a former detective who hosts podcasts and produces true crime content, as another possible successor.

She further suggested Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd, who met on Big Brother Seasons 11 and 13, respectively. Now married with two sons, the couple also competed on The Amazing Race and co-host a Big Brother podcast. Schroeder has prior hosting experience on Daily Blast Live and Great Day Colorado.

Additionally, Chen Moonves revealed she told her 15-year-old son that she plans to host until he is old enough to take over, humorously envisioning her son leading the show in the future.

Producers noted the 1,000th episode twist is unprecedented and live, raising speculation about potential hosting changes. Fans continue to wonder who would best fill Chen Moonves' role when the time comes.
