Six of the top players in quiz show history are competing for a $500,000 grand prize in the fourth annual Jeopardy! Masters tournament, which premiered August 25, 2026, on ABC.

Host Ken Jennings welcomed back defending champion Yogesh Raut of Vancouver, Washington, alongside Season 2 champion Victoria Groce and 2025 finalist Juveria Zaheer. The field also features 2026 Tournament of Champions winner Paolo Pasco, 2026 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament winner Andrew He, and runner-up Long Nguyen, as reported by TV Insider.

The tournament spans nine broadcast dates, featuring two one-hour games per episode. The first six episodes consist of 12 quarterfinal games aimed at eliminating two players. The remaining four contestants advance to the semifinals starting September 3, culminating in a two-game finale on September 8 to award the grand prize and the Trebek Trophy, according to Deseret News.

Returning 2025 finalist Victoria Groce evaluated the competitive lineup prior to the event, noting that the field lacked any weak links.

(Yogesh) is always a threat. Obviously, he won it last year, and he played very well the year before, so I knew that he would be every bit as good, said Victoria Groce, returning 2025 finalist. Juveria and I are, like, best friends, and I know how hard she has been working to get ready.

Andrew, I played before; I knew he was very good. Long I’ve known forever, and Paolo was so impressive in his ‘Tournament of Champions.’ I think he’s actually got a higher ceiling than anybody else in that field.

He is so young, and he is so brilliant, and he is so good at the stuff that is really hard to practice for — the wordplay, the mental flexibility stuff — and he’s great on the buzzer, too. It didn’t really feel like there was a weak link in the field.

Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of high-level tournament play, defending champion Yogesh Raut previously addressed the balance of mastery and chance required to secure a victory.

Even though so much of (the game) requires skill, to win, you also need luck on your side, said Yogesh Raut, 2025 Jeopardy! Masters champion. It’s impossible to win without both of those things.

Tournament gameplay awards 3 match points for a win, 1 point for second place, and 0 points for third. Following the conclusion of Match Day 2 games on August 26, overall standings placed Victoria Groce in the lead, as reported by The Jeopardy Fan.
