Fromm Family Foods Recalls Canned Dog Food Over Metal Contamination Risk

Fromm Family Foods is voluntarily recalling more than 5,800 cases of canned dog food across the United States and Canada following complaints of potential metal contamination, according to an alert published by the Food and Drug Administration.

The Wisconsin-based manufacturer pulled two specific wet food items after discovering the issue. The action covers 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet Dog Food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté Wet Dog Food.

Retail distribution took place through local pet shops and online merchants across both countries. The affected 12.2-ounce Turkey Pâté cans carry UPC 072705118700 and lot code EP2A3306 551006. The 12.5-ounce Milo's Meatloaf Pâté cans bear UPC 072705132324 and lot code EP2A3306 551029. Both affected varieties feature a best-by date of March 2029.

No injuries or illnesses associated with the recalled products have been reported to date. However, health officials warned that ingestion of metal debris poses risks including choking, vomiting, mouth cuts, stomach discomfort, and intestinal obstructions.

Fromm Family Foods stated that it identified the underlying error and implemented corrective measures to prevent future occurrences. The firm confirmed that no other products in its lineup are included in the recall action.

Consumers holding the affected cans are advised to discontinue feeding them to pets and return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
