Cincinnati Bengals Release Veteran Offensive Lineman Cody Ford

The Cincinnati Bengals released veteran offensive lineman Cody Ford on Monday, August 24, 2026, creating roster flexibility and cap space ahead of their preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ford, 29, spent the last three seasons in Cincinnati after signing low-cost contracts following stints with the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals. He appeared in 50 of 51 regular-season games during his tenure with the Bengals, playing multiple positions across the line.

The move clears $1.3 million in cap savings for Cincinnati while leaving $500,000 in dead money. The release increases the team's total available salary cap space to approximately $17 million, allowing room for a potential free-agent acquisition.

Despite his versatility, Ford struggled in pass protection during training camp and the team's first two preseason games. He registered a 0.0 grade from Pro Football Focus during Saturday's 27-9 victory over the Chicago Bears while starting at right guard.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor addressed the roster adjustment during a media session shortly after the team officially announced the move.

Prior to the release announcement, Taylor noted that the evaluation process for backup offensive linemen remained ongoing.

Cincinnati completes its preseason schedule on Friday evening against the Eagles in Philadelphia.
