SPCX Stock Recovers as Trump Disclosure Highlights SpaceX Growth

Shares of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. gained 1% overnight heading into Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a financial disclosure revealing that U.S. President Donald Trump's portfolio acquired up to $50,000 in SpaceX stock. The recovery follows a 1.44% drop on Monday, when shares closed at $135, though the equity remains up more than 17% over the past month.

A financial disclosure signed Aug. 12 and released Saturday showed that Trump's portfolio purchased between $15,001 and $50,000 worth of SPCX shares on June 23, just 11 days after the company completed its record $1.77 trillion initial public offering. The trade was part of more than 1,000 transactions executed for his portfolio in June, which also included investments in Berkshire Hathaway, Visa, Mastercard, and Cintas, alongside sales of shares in Nvidia, Apple, Broadcom, Amazon, and Tesla.

White House officials addressed potential conflict of interest concerns stemming from SpaceX's role as a major federal launch contractor, explaining that external financial managers handle the president's index-tracking strategy independently.

"Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold," said White House spokesman Davis Ingle.

The investment disclosure coincides with federal policy actions targeting commercial space capabilities. Last week, Trump signed a memorandum directing federal agencies to streamline permitting, airspace access, and scheduling to help boost annual U.S. rocket launches and reentries above 1,000 by 2030—a policy shift expected to directly benefit SpaceX as the primary domestic launch operator.

Commercial launch demand aligns with broader capital spending in advanced manufacturing, as Goldman Sachs raised its global wafer fabrication equipment projections. The bank forecasts global spending on chipmaking tools to rise 36% to $150 billion in 2026, 45% to $218 billion in 2027, and 29% to $281 billion by 2028. Futurum Equities Chief Market Strategist Shay Boloor noted that Elon Musk's Terafab project—including its $16.8 billion first phase tied to SpaceX and Tesla—has become a key growth driver incorporated into Goldman's semiconductor equipment outlook.

In its recent second-quarter financial results, SpaceX reported revenue of $7.81 billion, a 92% year-over-year increase that topped Wall Street expectations of $6.93 billion, while posting a net loss of 9 cents per share compared to expected losses of 24 cents. Company leadership continues to point toward operational milestones as primary catalysts for long-term performance.

"Next few months," said SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, referring to the company's planned effort to capture the Starship rocket booster using the Mechazilla launch tower following its 13th flight test.

Wall Street analysts note that post-IPO volatility remains typical for mega-cap listings, with lockup expirations and prospective share issuances presenting ongoing price fluctuations. After opening at $150 on its debut and peaking near $192.50, SPCX experienced pullbacks before stabilizing around its $135 IPO price. Financial advisors recommend that shareholders evaluate tax consequences and overall portfolio risk tolerance when managing volatile holdings.
