Prime Video Adds American Psycho and Comedy Titles to Movie Slate

Amazon Prime Video expanded its US streaming catalog on August 23, 2026, featuring the unrated cut of the 2000 psychological thriller film American Psycho alongside the comedy sequel Barbershop: The Next Cut.

The addition of American Psycho coincides with renewed attention on author Bret Easton Ellis following the release of the FX and Hulu drama series adaptation of his 2023 novel, The Shards.

Directed by Mary Harron on a $7 million budget, American Psycho stars Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, an investment executive concealing his violent tendencies in 1980s Manhattan. Lionsgate distributed the 101-minute film, which features a cast including Jared Leto, Reese Witherspoon, and Willem Dafoe. The platform currently streams an unrated version that contains four minutes of additional footage not included in the original theatrical release.

The streaming platform also features all four entries in the Barbershop film series. Among the franchise titles available to subscribers, the fourth installment, Barbershop: The Next Cut, stands out as the highest-rated entry on review aggregator platforms.
