NBA 2K27 Teases Grand Theft Auto 6 Crossover Season Ahead of Release
Publisher Take-Two Interactive teased a cross-promotional event between Grand Theft Auto 6 and NBA 2K27 in a new promotional video released on August 25, 2026, ahead of the basketball simulation's upcoming launch.
The teaser appeared at the end of the trailer for NBA 2K27 Season 1, revealing a poster featuring palm trees, seagulls, and police sirens set to the iconic Vice City color palette. Two arcade cabinets displaying the 2K and Rockstar Games logos subsequently flashed the words "Season 3" written in the signature Grand Theft Auto font.
While 2K confirmed that Season 2 will begin on October 16, 2026, the company did not announce a formal start date for Season 3. However, the title's standard six-week seasonal cycle indicates the third season will start near the end of November, coinciding with the scheduled launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19.
The crossover initiative aligns with parent company Take-Two Interactive's wider strategy to leverage its flagship franchises. Previous synergy efforts saw NBA 2K26 added to Rockstar Games' GTA+ subscription service, while recent gameplay leaks for Grand Theft Auto 6 showed protagonist Jason playing a basketball minigame.
NBA 2K27 releases in early access on August 26, 2026, for premium edition pre-order holders before its wide release on September 4.
