Michael Beasley Reflects on Early NBA Career and Heat Playing Time

Former NBA forward Michael Beasley recently reflected on his early career with the Miami Heat, detailing his lack of maturity and understanding regarding his initial playing time as a 19-year-old rookie.

Drafted second overall in 2008, Beasley struggled to comprehend the organizational decisions surrounding his role on the court during his early professional years.

"I think people don't understand how young 19 is. Even if a 19-year-old understands what you're saying, he doesn't comprehend how it feels, right? I've been 21, I can tell you not to drink, but until you drink and get drunk the first time, you don't know why I'm telling you not to drink.

You know, that first hangover sucks, right? And at 19, I just couldn't understand why I wasn't playing. I just couldn't understand.

I just didn't understand it. I didn't understand, and, you know, bigger picture, especially now that it's, you know, I guess the bigger picture was getting LeBron, right?" said Michael Beasley, former NBA player.

Beasley spent two seasons with the Heat before being traded in 2010 to clear salary cap space, allowing Miami to sign LeBron James.
