Marblehead Host Cultural Events Featuring History Talks and Live Music

Town organizations in Marblehead, Massachusetts, are hosting a series of community programs, historical lectures, and musical performances at local venues including the Abbot Public Library and the Marblehead Arts Association.

Historical events feature a hybrid presentation on Col. John Glover's leadership during 1776, led by reenactment unit Captain Larry Sands on Wednesday, Aug. 26. The program is organized alongside the Marblehead 250 Committee and Abbot Public Library.

Town Historian Donald Doliber will also present a lecture detailing Capt. Nicholson Broughton and the 1775 schooner Hannah, which operated as a privateer vessel under George Washington. The session will be available in person at Abbot Library and online via Zoom.

Cultural offerings include a performance by Yoron Israel and High Standards as part of the Jazz at the Arts series presented by the Marblehead Arts Association and Gene Arnould. Additionally, local band True North will perform live music at The Landing Restaurant on Front Street.

Community activities also include a free play presentation of 'The Mender' by Marblehead High School teacher Ashley Skeffington at Marblehead Little Theatre, as well as an interactive engineering and ocean science workshop for children aged 8 to 12 at Abbot Public Library.
