Mallorca Reduces Vehicle Inspection Wait Times to Days

Vehicle inspection wait times across Mallorca have plummeted from a peak of up to five months in 2023 to just a few days as of August 26, 2026, following target measures implemented by the Consell de Mallorca.

Wait times across the island's five inspection centers currently range between three and ten days. The sole exception is the Manacor facility, where motorists face delays of ten to fifteen days.

A major driver of the reduction is the new inspection center in Campos. Originally scheduled to open in early 2026, officials moved its launch to late 2026 to relieve pressure on facilities in Palma and Manacor.

The location in Campos provides closer service for surrounding municipalities including Llucmajor, Felanitx, and Santanyi. Regional authorities expect total island inspections to reach roughly 200,000 by year-end and exceed 530,000 in 2026, matching pre-pandemic levels.

A new concession increased overall station capacity by 35 percent and added staff. Voluntary Saturday openings generated up to 4,000 extra inspections monthly, while another facility in Calvia provided 9,000 additional monthly slots.

From September onward, authorities plan to offer approximately 183,000 appointment slots, with options to scale up based on demand. A mobile campaign also targets more than 40 municipalities to facilitate appointments for motorcycles and agricultural vehicles.

In cooperation with IMAS, authorities also installed induction loops across all testing stations to improve accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments.
