Las Vegas Targets Canadian Travelers Following Tourism Decline
Las Vegas tourism representatives launched a sales mission across Western Canada to attract visitors back to the destination following an 18 percent drop in Canadian arrivals in 2025.
The delegation hosted 100 travel agents at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver before proceeding to Calgary and Edmonton. Twelve suppliers shared updates on new entertainment, sports venues, and resort developments aimed at boosting Canadian travel, which totaled 1.18 million visitors last year.
Organizers emphasized the value of the market while presenting major upcoming events intended to drive international visitation.
"We love you, we want you, we need you," said Fletch Brunelle, VP of marketing at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Brunelle highlighted the city's sports strategy, noting that major annual events provide economic impacts while offering accessible options for budget-conscious attendees.
"It’s the best place to come and see sporting events," said Brunelle.
Brunelle noted that single-day access to major racing events starts at 81 USD, while free community music festivals offer alternative entertainment. He also outlined plans for a new 1.75 billion USD Major League Baseball stadium with a 33,000-seat capacity scheduled to open for the 2028 season.
Hospitality leaders addressed changing consumer behaviors, noting that overall Canadian travel declines averaged 22 percent nationwide, leaving Las Vegas in a relatively resilient position.
MGM Resorts International reported that high-end properties are maintaining strong demand, driven primarily by event-focused travelers and convention attendees who make up about 70 percent of guests.
