Bengals Receiver JaMarr Chase Avoids Serious Injury at Practice

Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase suffered an apparent left knee injury during Tuesday's training camp practice outside Paycor Stadium on August 25, 2026. However, he avoided serious harm and remained on the field without needing medical assistance. The scare occurred when Chase landed awkwardly on his left leg while pursuing a deep pass from quarterback Joe Burrow.

His knee appeared to bend unnaturally, prompting him to limp off the field while holding the affected area. Despite the initial concern, Chase walked to the sideline under his own power alongside team trainers. Within minutes, the 26-year-old was seen walking without assistance and stretching his leg, avoiding a cart or a trip to the locker room.

Chase did not return to drills for the remaining 30 minutes of practice, but he stayed on the sideline chatting with teammates and showing no obvious signs of pain. The Bengals have not released an official update regarding his status.

Losing Chase for an extended period would pose a significant challenge to the Bengals' offense. He forms one of the league's most effective receiving tandems alongside Tee Higgins, who led team receivers with 10 touchdown passes in 2024. Behind Chase and Higgins, Cincinnati's receiver depth chart includes Andrei Iosivas, Colbie Young, Mitchell Tinsley, and Charlie Jones. Young previously recorded three catches for 48 yards and a touchdown during a 27-9 preseason victory over the Chicago Bears.

Chase has logged 78 games across his first five NFL seasons, averaging 113 receptions, 1,490 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns per 17-game stretch. In 2024, he won the franchise's first receiving triple crown by posting 127 catches, 1,708 yards, and 17 touchdowns. In March 2025, the five-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year, $161 million contract extension with Cincinnati. Later that year, he recorded a 125-catch, 1,412-yard campaign and became the fifth player in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first five seasons.
