Dustin May Exits Game After Being Hit by Line Drive

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Dustin May exited Wednesday's game against the New York Mets on August 26, 2026, after being struck by a 106-mph line drive on the very first pitch of the contest.

Mets rookie A.J. Ewing hit the comebacker, which struck May directly in the upper back near his right shoulder. Left-hander Robert Gasser immediately replaced May on the mound in Queens.

The sudden injury further strained an already thinned Milwaukee bullpen. Brewers manager Pat Murphy had noted prior to the game that he was hoping for a lengthy outing from May to relieve his relief corps.
