Blazers Guard Shaedon Sharpe Out Six Months With Torn Meniscus
Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe is expected to miss six months after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee during a recent offseason workout, according to reports released on August 24, 2026.
The 23-year-old guard will undergo surgery this week to repair the damage, according to a source cited by The Oregonian. A six-month recovery timeline means Sharpe could remain sidelined until at least Feb. 24, 2027, forcing him to miss Portland's first 59 games of the upcoming 2026-27 season.
This setback marks another major injury obstacle for the former seventh overall pick in the 2022 draft. Sharpe averaged a career-high 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals across 50 appearances last season, but missed 28 games after sustaining a calf strain and a stress reaction in his left fibula on Feb. 6.
The Canadian guard, who reclassified into the 2021 class and enrolled early at Kentucky without appearing in a collegiate game, also missed significant time during his second NBA campaign due to a core muscle injury requiring surgery. Over four seasons with the franchise, Sharpe has started 134 games.
Sharpe signed a four-year, $90 million extension with the Blazers last October, which officially kicks in this season with a salary of approximately $20 million. Portland expects to offset his missing production through guard depth that features Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, and Jrue Holiday.
