Aroldis Chapman Joins Historic 30-Save Club in Boston Red Sox Win

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman closed out a 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Monday to record his 30th save of the 2026 Major League Baseball season.

The 38-year-old southpaw worked around a leadoff single in the ninth inning to seal Boston's fourth consecutive victory. With the milestone, Chapman became only the fourth closer in MLB history to record 10 or more seasons with at least 30 saves, joining Hall of Famers Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman, and Lee Smith.

Chapman has put together back-to-back 30-save campaigns during his tenure in Boston after previously reaching the mark with the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds. Over 44.2 innings this season, he holds a 1.81 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a 58:20 strikeout-to-walk ratio while successfully converting 30 of 32 save opportunities.

The victory put Boston 13 games over .500 for the second time this year. Erik Miller pitched a scoreless eighth inning to preserve a tied game before Anthony Seigler hit a go-ahead RBI triple in the bottom half of the frame, followed by an insurance single from Nick Sogard.

Chapman now stands three saves shy of reaching 400 for his career. His current stretch includes converting three saves across a four-day span, having previously secured his 28th save against the San Francisco Giants on Friday and his 29th on Sunday.
