Anya Taylor Joy Bintangi Serial Thriller Lucky di Apple TV

Aktris Anya Taylor-Joy resmi memproduseri sekaligus membintangi serial drama aksi thriller terbaru berjudul Lucky yang mulai ditayangkan secara perdana di layanan penstriman Apple TV+ sejak 15 Juli 2026.

Serial tujuh episode ini diproduksi oleh Hello Sunshine milik Reese Witherspoon dengan mengadaptasi novel terlaris karya Marissa Stapley. Kisahnya berfokus pada pelarian Luciana "Lucky" Armstrong, seorang penipu ulung yang berusaha melepaskan diri dari masa lalu kelamnya usai aksi perampokan bernilai jutaan dolar berakhir kekacauan.

Dalam tayangan tersebut, Lucky terbangun dan mendapati uang 10 juta dolar Amerika Serikat beserta suaminya hilang secara misterius. Kondisi ini memaksanya menghindari kejaran agen FBI dan bos kejahatan berbahaya yang diperankan oleh Annette Bening. Penyelenggaraan tayangan perdana serial ini telah digelar di Los Angeles, Amerika Serikat, yang dihadiri jajaran pemeran serta produser eksekutif.

Anya Taylor-Joy menyampaikan pandangannya mengenai karakter utama yang ia perankan dalam laporan eksklusif The Hollywood Reporter.

"Bagi saya, Lucky bukan sekadar thriller kriminal biasa. Ini adalah sebuah perjalanan tentang bertahan hidup, tentang bagaimana seseorang mencoba melepaskan diri dari bayang-bayang masa lalu, dan menemukan kembali jati diri di tengah situasi yang hampir mustahil. Saya merasa sangat beruntung bisa menyelami karakter yang begitu kompleks dan berlapis ini," kata Anya Taylor-Joy, Aktris dan Produser Eksekutif Serial Lucky.

Pengembangan cerita serial ini dipimpin oleh co-showrunner Jonathan Tropper dan Cassie Pappas. Tim produksi melakukan adaptasi narasi guna menciptakan dinamika thriller yang lebih cepat untuk tayangan televisi.

Fokus penggarapan cerita ditekankan pada dinamika hubungan keluarga serta latar belakang psikologis karakter utama.

"Day one, page one, we were always looking at character first, and we were looking at the father-daughter relationship," kata Cassie Pappas, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Pappas menjelaskan bahwa konflik utama tumbuh dari warisan kejahatan sang ayah yang tidak bisa dihindari begitu saja oleh karakter utama.

"You always talk about what kind of baggage we inherited from our parents. Am I going to be an addict because my dad was an addict? That just becomes higher-stakes, life-and-death stuff when your dad is a criminal, he raised you to be one, you never had a say in it, you’re not even sure you want to be one, but you’re actually really good at it," kata Cassie Pappas, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Proses adaptasi ini membutuhkan perubahan alur agar cerita sesuai dengan format episode televisi.

"We knew that to make it the kind of taut thriller we wanted it to be, we would have to invent certain plot and character elements and stay away from certain plot points in the book," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Tropper menambahkan bahwa penulis novel memberikan kebebasan penuh kepada tim produksi dalam merancang ulang elemen cerita tersebut.

"I had multiple talks with Marissa, who understood that doing seven episodes of television is very different than writing a 350-page novel. We really had her blessing to take the themes she was exploring, primarily the father-daughter relationship, redemption, reinvention, and rediscovery, and use certain cornerstones of the book while inventing other characters," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Perbedaan durasi penayangan menjadi tantangan tersendiri bila dibandingkan dengan proyek serial lain yang pernah ditangani oleh tim produksi.

"With ‘Silo,’ we knew when we got greenlit, and they were building those insane sets, that we were doing four seasons of television," kata Cassie Pappas, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Pappas menegaskan bahwa alur cerita Lucky dirancang intensif sejak awal tayangan.

"We could slow-burn and pull a thread through a mystery. With this one, we knew we only had seven episodes. We had seven hours of television to go full throttle and make the most propulsive thing we could. In a way, they were night and day," kata Cassie Pappas, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Tim produksi membagi peran manajerial harian selama proses pengambilan gambar berlangsung di Los Angeles.

"This is a Hello Sunshine show, and it needed a strong female perspective," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Tropper mengungkapkan pembagian tugas dilakukan karena dirinya sedang memegang proyek serial lain pada saat yang bersamaan.

"From the beginning, I was thinking I definitely needed a strong female writer doing this with me. What turned it into co-showrunning was the fact that I had another show and couldn’t possibly run two. Cassie was really on the ground in L.A. daily, running the show once we were in production," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Penyusunan naskah berfokus pada kekuatan drama psikologis ketimbang rumitnya trik penipuan semata.

"We start from the assumption that we’re writing the show for smart people," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Naskah serial ini dirancang untuk menyoroti dinamika pengasuhan dan latar belakang keluarga.

"It’s not really fun to write otherwise. But while we’re big fans of movies like ‘Ocean’s Eleven,’ we were not looking to make an intricate, slick con thriller or heist show. This is really a character-driven drama that has the con much more as a psychological underpinning of a childhood, a family dynamic, and an upbringing," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Keterlibatan Anya Taylor-Joy sebagai pemeran utama sekaligus produser eksekutif memberikan arah kuat pada pengembangan karakter.

"She had a pretty strong point of view about the character," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Tropper menyampaikan bahwa sang aktris turut memberikan masukan rutin selama proses penyusunan naskah.

"The more we developed it, the more she was able to weigh in and course-correct us based on how she felt. She," kata Jonathan Tropper, Co-Showrunner Serial Lucky.

Sebelum membintangi Lucky, Hello Sunshine telah memproduksi berbagai serial populer seperti Big Little Lies, The Morning Show, Little Fires Everywhere, Daisy Jones and the Six, serta Tiny Beautiful Things. Selain sibuk mempromosikan serialnya di New York, Anya Taylor-Joy bersama suaminya Malcolm McRae juga terlihat menghadiri laga final Piala Dunia 2026 di Stadion MetLife, New Jersey, pada 19 Juli 2026.

Dua episode pertama Lucky telah dirilis secara bersamaan saat penayangan perdana, sementara lima episode sisanya dijadwalkan tayang mingguan setiap hari Rabu hingga 19 Agustus 2026.
